7 Places To View Christmas Lights Near Norwood, MA

Whether you want to explore lights in a Norwood neighborhood or you want to visit a festival with a bunch of holiday lights, these are some great places to check out.

1. Magic of Lights

This year, the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough will host the Magic of Lights. This drive-through holiday light experience is full of fun holiday scenes. You’ll experience amazing digital animation as well as dazzling lights. The scenes on display have themes such as “Elves on Motorcycles,” “Bigfoot,” “Prehistoric Christmas,” and “Backflip Santa.”

As you experience the sights, you’ll be warm and toasty in the comfort and safety of your car. Plus, you pay just one price for the entire carload. You can load up your Honda Odyssey for a lovely evening with the family, with no walking necessary.

2. Winterlights in Massachusetts

If you enjoy gardens illuminated for the holidays, you may want to check out the three Winterlight properties. Three gardens in Massachusetts will be set up for Winterlights this year. You can visit the Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate, Naumkeag, and Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens to view the Christmas lights in all their glory. Each property takes about one hour to walk through. You’ll find snacks and hot drinks available in the garden to keep your hands toasty as you enjoy the lights.

Tickets are already on sale for the event and must be purchased in advance. The gardens are open Wednesday through Sunday, though the parks will be closed on Christmas and Christmas Eve. Each garden is unique, so you can have a different experience at the three locations.

3. Norwood Holiday Extravaganza

This year, Norwood will host its annual Holiday Extravaganza once again. The event takes place the Sunday following Thanksgiving. It begins at 1:30 p.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. with Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving to turn on the holiday lights at Town Common. Families will gather to see the Christmas tree lights turn on just as dark begins to set in.

Early in the afternoon, the event will contain many family-friendly events, including hayrides, arts and crafts, and Christmas story readings. Local musical choirs and other artists will perform. A parade will also run from Guild Square to Town Common. If you’d like to stay close to home this year, the Holiday Extravaganza is an affordable and easy option.

4. Walkhill Road & Other Neighborhoods

If you’d like to explore the local area, Norwood is a beautiful place to see the holiday lights. In the past, a few homes on Walkhill Road had some fantastic lighting setups. While the street is more like a small alley, the area can get crowded when many people are out looking at lights. Parking and walking to look at the lights may be a good option. Each year is a little different, so there’s no guarantee that the setups from last year will be up this year.

Of course, there are plenty of neighborhoods to explore in Norwood with amazing Christmas lights. Many people go to Hyde Park to see the Canale Christmas lights on Meadowview Road.

5. Enchanted Village

Jordan’s Furniture in Avon will host Enchanted Village. The event begins on Nov. 11 and ends on Jan. 1. Jordan’s Adventure has taken pieces from the original Enchanted Village in Boston and restored them. The vintage collection now provides joy to a new generation throughout the holiday season. If you’re already familiar with the Enchanted Village, you’ll love the modern twist.

This experience also provides you and your family with a photo op with Santa. You can purchase tickets for an inner tube slide, 4D Polar Express adventure, laser light theatrical experience, games, and ice skating. The event is a lot bigger than you might expect from a furniture store. Don’t forget to try one of Jordan’s famous blueberry muffins while you’re there.

6. ZooLights

If you’ve got some time to spare, a drive to Stone Zoo might be worth the visit. The 40-minute drive to Stoneham will culminate in a night of twinkling lights. ZooLights begins on Nov. 18 and ends Jan. 8 but will be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas days. You’ll see the zoo in an entirely new light.

The winter wonderland at Stone Zoo spans 26 acres. You’ll walk through the zoo and view animal lantern displays as well as the Yukon Creek-themed area of the zoo. It’s a wonderful time of the year to be out at night, dazzled by the twinkling lights. If you don’t live in a neighborhood with a lot of residential holiday lights, ZooLights gives you a chance to explore them on foot in a safe environment.

If you visit on Wednesdays between Nov. 30 and Dec. 21 between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., you’ll have the chance to visit the North Pole. Mrs. Claus will be available for pictures.
